I think that I probably have the pickiest dog in the world. Lucy, my German Shepherd, is in all other ways the best friend anyone could ask for. She’s sweet, loyal and playful and even a great guard dog. But when it comes to her food, Lucy has always been a very picky eater.
Lucy is only two years old, and yet I have probably gone through about twenty different dog foods with her trying to find one that she will eat. Sometimes I’ll find something that seems to work, and she will eat it for a few weeks. Then, suddenly, she’ll go off that food and want something different again.
Besides her being picky, it’s also hard for us to find many types of dog food where we live because we are an hour’s drive from a large grocery store or department store. We do most of our shopping at a small, independent grocery store in our tiny home town. About once a month we go into the city to stock up on the supplies we can’t get locally. So dog food shopping is very frustrating, as I’m sure you can imagine.
Recently, however, to our amazement, our tiny local grocery store started carrying some of Purinastore‘s Beneful dog foods. Beneful has a wide range of dry foods, wet foods [see: https://www.beneful.com/products/wet-dog-food/] and treats for dogs. This brand was one we hadn’t tried yet, so we eagerly snapped up one of every flavor.
The first range we tried was the Incredibites wet food range because Lucy has tended to favor wet dog food in the past. While Incredibites is designed for smaller dogs, it does provide all the nutrients needed for a dog of any size. There are several flavors, like chicken and beef, and they all include veggies and whole grains.
We also tried the Amazon best-selling Originals dry dog food from Beneful. This comes in beef, chicken and salmon varieties, all of which also have veggies.
Amazingly, Lucy has liked all of these Beneful foods. And we are happy that she’s getting the nutrients she needs while also enjoying her food.
